FALK Bouwsystemen strengthens its Western European position by acquiring German company Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH. Currently, FALK Bouwsystemen is the market leader in insulated panels on the Dutch market. Jan Hardeman of FALK: "With this acquisition we are taking an important strategic step, which fits in with FALK's growth ambitions outside the Netherlands. The acquisition offers plenty of opportunities, at product level and for existing and new customers." In addition to the two production lines in Ede, a third production location in Michigan (USA) was opened in 2020.

The acquisition agreement was signed by both parties in the past week. Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH stems from Salzgitter AG, a leading German steel and technology group with over 25,000 employees. From 1 January 2023, Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH will continue under the name FALK Salzgitter GmbH.

Strengthening market position
The acquisition offers FALK opportunities for further growth in both Germany and Western Europe. Jan Hardeman is pleased with the takeover: "With the acquisition of Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH, we are entering the German market in an independent way. We benefit from the great expertise and more than 20 years of experience of Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH, both at product and customer level. In addition, Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH has extensive experience in the production of sandwich elements with mineral wool, a product with which we have little knowledge and experience within FALK Bouwsystemen. Therefore, this acquisition also has an important link in our continuous product innovation."

Clear focus
FALK Salzgitter GmbH will continue to operate as a legally independent private limited company, with current managing director Kai Bohmbach at the helm: "Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH will have greater visibility under the FALK flag. FALK Bouwsystemen has a sharp and clear focus on the construction sector and is constantly working on innovation, it's in their DNA. This is demonstrated, among other things, by CradleCore®, the world's first circular sandwich panel. This panel ensures a low environmental impact of buildings, making it an interesting product for the German market as well. Sustainability, innovation and sound entrepreneurship thus go hand in hand."
