Insulated Metal Panel Load Strapping Instructions
Welcome to FALK! We manufacture Insulated Metal Panels (IMPs). IMPs are delicate: up to 8 inches of foam sandwiched between 2 thin sheets of metal. Please follow these instructions on how to properly secure your load of IMPs, and prevent damage that could result in a freight claim against your load.

STEP 1: STRAP PLACEMENT
Straps need to be spaced 10 feet apart. For flatbed loads, 2 straps must be used within the first 10 feet, and spaced every 10 feet after the 2nd strap. TIP: When throwing your straps over the load, throw the end WITHOUT the latch to avoid hitting IMPs or people.
STEP 2: EDGE PROTECTORS
Edge protectors that are a minimum of 8” x 12” must be used to protect the panels. Place them underneath each strap.
STEP 3: TIGHTENING YOUR STRAPS
If your straps are too tight or too loose, you risk damaging the load. The straps should be tightened so they have 1 inch of slack. This will avoid having too much down pressure on the panels.
Always watch the top of the load where the edge protector and the strap meet the corner of the IMPs for any damage or deformation. If you see ANY bend in the panel, STOP TIGHTENING IMMEDIATELY.
TIP: To reduce your chances of over-tightening, use the middle of your bar when ratcheting the straps. This will give you more control over how much pressure you are applying.
STEP 4: CHECK STRAPS AFTER 50 MILES
Your load may settle while you are driving. After 50-100 miles, stop at a truck stop and check to make sure your straps are at the right tightness level.
